Find Someone in the Brazoria County Jail

The county runs a public online Inmate Records Search through its Public Access portal. It is the fastest way to confirm that someone is in custody in Brazoria County.

How to search

The link opens the county’s Public Access portal — choose Jail Records and search by name. A date of birth or the booking number will narrow the results. Very recent bookings can take a few hours to appear.

A name and date of birth are all you need to find a record. You should not have to enter a Social Security number or other sensitive personal information to look someone up.

What you may need

• The person’s full legal name (try spelling variations and any former or maiden name).
• Their date of birth, to tell people apart when names are similar.
• Their booking number — Brazoria County’s identifier for the person. You will need it for mail and for commissary deposits.

Confirm the identity

Before you send money or mail, match the full name and date of birth on the record to the person you are looking for. Do not rely on the name alone.

Booking information and charges

The jail record usually lists the booking date, the charges, and the bond amount. For court dates and case status, use the county’s Public Access – Criminal Records search or call the Detention Center. An arrest is not a conviction.

Visitation Information

Brazoria County offers on-site visits at the Detention Center and remote video visits from home through Securus Video Connect. You must be on the inmate’s approved visitor list.

On-site visits — days and hours

Every day, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. You must be registered at least 15 minutes before visitation ends. All visitors first register at Male Visitation, then go to the assigned visitation area.

Who may visit and what to bring

• A valid government photo ID — Texas driver license or state ID, passport, Armed Forces ID, or a current DPS ID / paper license.
• Only 2 adults and 1 child, or 1 adult and 2 children, in the visitation area at one time.
• Anyone under 18 must be with a parent or legal guardian, and children must be supervised at all times.
• Anyone incarcerated anywhere in the last 6 weeks cannot visit.
• No cellphones or electronic devices. Dress modestly — no revealing, see-through, or gang-related clothing; shorts, skirts, and dresses must reach the knee; shoes required.

Remote video visits

The county’s visitation page directs families to Securus Video Connect to schedule and join video sessions from a computer, tablet, or the free Securus app. Attorneys and officials use a separate privileged system through NCIC.

Visitation days, hours, and video-visit fees are set by the jail and the provider and can change. Confirm the current schedule with the Detention Center at (979) 864-2336 before you go.

Commissary and Money Deposits

Money for commissary goes into the person’s account through Access Corrections. Money for phone calls is separate and goes through NCIC (see Section 5).

What you must provide

The person’s full name and booking number, and the county (Brazoria County, TX).

Deposit fees are set by Access Corrections and are shown before you confirm payment. Check the current amount at checkout.

Telephone Calls and Communication

Since December 22, 2022, inmate telephone service and electronic messaging at the Brazoria County Detention Center are provided by NCIC Inmate Communications.

Set up a phone account

1. Go to NCIC.com or call 1-800-943-2189.
2. Create an account and add the incarcerated person using their name and booking number.
3. Add funds to the phone account.

Messages and photos

Through NCIC Inmate Messaging you can send electronic messages for $0.25 each and photos or scanned documents for $0.35 each, delivered instantly, with no limit on how many. This is the fastest way to reach someone inside.

Call, message, and photo rates are set by the provider and can change. Check the current pricing in your NCIC account before adding a large balance. All calls and video visits may be monitored and recorded, except privileged attorney communication.

Mailing Instructions

Effective January 9, 2023, all inmate mail except legal and medical mail must be sent to an off-site processing address. Mail sent there is opened, scanned, and delivered to the person electronically, then destroyed — it is not returned.

Mail rules (or it is returned to sender)

• Nothing larger than 8½″ wide × 11″ tall.
• No more than 5 pages per envelope, one-sided only.
• One photograph per envelope.
• Include your full name and complete return address, and the person’s full name and booking number.
• No packages — the Detention Center does not accept packages or product deliveries; they are returned to the carrier.

Legal and medical mail

Privileged mail goes to the Brazoria County Jail, 3602 County Road 45, Angleton, TX 77515 — not the PO Box. Only mail from courts, federal officials, state officials (including the Texas Commission on Jail Standards and the Governor), and the inmate’s attorney is treated as legal mail; anything else is returned to sender.
