Find Someone in the Lubbock County Jail

The Sheriff’s Office runs a public Active Jail Roster. It is the fastest way to confirm that someone is in custody in Lubbock County.

How to search

Search by name, booking number, or SO number. The Lubbock County Sheriff’s mobile app has the same search and updates every half hour. A new booking can take up to about 14 hours to appear.

A name and date of birth are all you need to find a record. You should not have to enter a Social Security number or other sensitive personal information to look someone up.

What you may need

• The person’s full legal name (try spelling variations and any former or maiden name).
• Their date of birth, to tell people apart when names are similar.
• Their SO number (Sheriff’s Office number). You must put it on all mail and use it for deposits.

Confirm the identity

Before you send money or mail, match the full name and date of birth on the record to the person you are looking for. Do not rely on the name alone.

Booking information, charges, and bond

The roster shows the charges and, once set, the bond amount. Bonds are set after the person sees a magistrate at an Initial Appearance (held at least twice a day). For court dates, use Lubbock County court records. An arrest is not a conviction.

Visitation Information

Visits at the Lubbock County Detention Center — on-site and from home — are handled through Smart Communications. Register at SmartInmate.com from a phone, computer, or a kiosk at the jail; you do not have to be at the facility.

Getting set up

1. Register as a public user (you get an activation code by text or email).
2. Send a connection request — the inmate must accept it.
3. Register to schedule visits: upload a valid photo ID and a recent photo of yourself. The facility approves the application, usually within 24 hours.
4. Schedule your visit at least 24 hours in advance.

Hours and limits

Visits run 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with the last visit starting no later than 9:30 p.m.

• On-site visits: one per person, per inmate, per day.
• Remote (from-home) video visits: unlimited for general-population inmates, scheduled in advance by you (staff cannot schedule them); there is a per-minute cost.
• Inmate-initiated Video on Demand: when the request comes, you have 3 minutes to connect; the inmate gets 5 attempts a day.
• Special Housing Unit visits are scheduled by jail staff — call (806) 775-7019.

Rules

• Visitors over 17 need a valid government photo ID (state ID or driver license, bar card, military ID, law-enforcement credential, or official passport).
• One adult visitor per visit, with up to two children; one visit per inmate per day.
• No food, gum, candy, drinks, cell phones, purses, backpacks, pens, pencils, or bags in the visitation rooms — use the lockers (a quarter is required and refunded).
• Dress code is enforced: no halter, tank, fishnet, or see-through tops; no open midriff or cutoffs; nothing too tight or revealing; no gang colors. Violations can suspend visits for up to 30 days.

Commissary and Money Deposits

Lubbock County uses two separate systems for inmate money.

• Cash kiosk in the main lobby of the Lubbock County Detention Center, or the kiosk downtown in the lobby of the Sheriff’s property room.

Phone account only — ICSolutions

By card at ICSolutions.com or (888) 506-8407. Money sent this way can be used only for the inmate’s phone account.

Care packages — Access Securepak

Family and friends can order approved care packages at accesssecurepak.com.

You will need the person’s name and SO number. Deposit fees are set by the providers and are shown before you confirm payment.

Telephone Calls and Communication

Inmate phone service at the Lubbock County Detention Center is provided by ICSolutions. Set up a prepaid account at ICSolutions.com or by calling (888) 506-8407.

Messages

Text messages go through Smart Communications. Create an account at SmartInmate.com; the incarcerated person reads your messages as email on their tablet, and each message costs SmartInmate credits. The inmate can also send you a “collect / COD” message that you pay for when you open it.

Mailing Instructions

Personal mail to the Lubbock County Detention Center is processed off-site by Smart Communications MailGuard, scanned, and made available to the incarcerated person on tablets or wall kiosks. Do not send personal mail to the jail’s street address.
