Find Someone in Johnson County Jail

The Sheriff’s Office posts a public jail roster online. It is the fastest way to confirm that someone is currently in custody in Johnson County.

How to search

On the roster page, enter the person’s full last name and at least the first letter of their first name, then submit. The list updates continuously, but a very recent booking can take a few hours to appear.

A name and date of birth are all you need to find a record. You should not have to enter a Social Security number or other sensitive personal information to look someone up.

• Their date of birth, to tell people apart when names are similar.

Confirm the identity

Before you send money or mail, match the full name and date of birth on the record to the person you are looking for. Do not rely on name alone.

Booking information and charges

A roster record may list the booking date and the charges filed. If charge information is missing, unclear, or you need bond or court details, call the jail at (817) 556-6000. An arrest is not a conviction.

Visitation Information

Johnson County offers both on-site visits at the jail and remote video visits you can join from home. Both are scheduled through the county’s visitation provider, GTL / ViaPath (“VisitMe”).

Days and hours

Visits are available daily, 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Every visit must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Exact session times depend on the housing area, so confirm your slot with the jail at (817) 556-6000.

Register and schedule

1. Create a free visitor account with the county’s provider (link below).
2. Find the incarcerated person and choose an on-site or video visit time at least 24 hours out.
3. For a video visit, install the provider’s app (GTL VisMobile on a phone/tablet, or GTL VisBridge on a computer) and test your camera before the visit.
4. For an on-site visit, arrive 15 minutes early with your ID.

Identification

Adults need a valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID (driver license, state or county ID card, passport, or military ID). Visitors 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Follow the posted dress code; weapons, tobacco, lighters, phones, and bags must be left in your vehicle.

Commissary and Money Deposits

Money for commissary (snacks, hygiene items, stationery) goes into the incarcerated person’s trust account. Johnson County’s deposit provider is ViaPath Technologies (formerly GTL), through its ConnectNetwork service.

Telephone Calls and Communication

Inmate telephone service at the Johnson County Jail is provided by ViaPath Technologies (formerly GTL). Families fund calls through an AdvancePay prepaid account on ConnectNetwork.
