Find Someone in the Fort Bend County Jail

The Sheriff’s Office runs a public online Jail Inquiry. It is the fastest way to confirm that someone is in custody in Fort Bend County.

How to search

Search by the person’s name. Very recent bookings can take a few hours to appear.

A name and date of birth are all you need to find a record. You should not have to enter a Social Security number or other sensitive personal information to look someone up.

What you may need

• The person’s full legal name (try spelling variations and any former or maiden name).
• Their date of birth, to tell people apart when names are similar.
• Their inmate ID number — written with a “P” and digits, like P00123456. You must put it on all mail and on any money order.

Confirm the identity

Before you send money or mail, match the full name and date of birth on the record to the person you are looking for. Do not rely on the name alone.

Booking information and charges

The Jail Inquiry shows the booking and charge information the county makes public. For court dates and case status, use Fort Bend County court records. An arrest is not a conviction.

Visitation Information

All visits at the Fort Bend County Jail are video visits through Securus. There are no public in-person visits. Every visit — on-site or from home — is scheduled online at videovisitanywhere.com, at least 24 hours in advance, and you must create an account first.

On-site video visits

By appointment only. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sunday through Friday (the last visit starts at 6:30 and ends at 7:00). Closed Saturdays. Inmates are unavailable during meals, 11:00–11:30 a.m. and 4:00–4:30 p.m.

From-home video visits

Available 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily, $6.00 per visit, unlimited — they do not count against the two free weekly on-site visits. You need a computer with a webcam or an iOS/Android device and a broadband connection.

Rules

• Each inmate not on restriction gets two visits per calendar week (the week starts Monday). Visits are 25 minutes.
• Adults show a state license or photo ID; juveniles 16 or older show a valid state driver license or photo ID; a child 16 or under must be with an adult.
• No cell phones or cameras during a visit. No sexual acts or nudity, drug or gang references, or threatening language. A remote visit taken while driving is cancelled with no refund.

Commissary and Money Deposits

The Fort Bend County Jail accepts money orders for an inmate’s account, and friends and family can order commissary gift packages through iCare.

Commissary gift packages

Order approved snack, hygiene, and other packages for an incarcerated person through iCare.

Money that pays for phone calls goes into a separate telephone account (see Section 5). Fees are set by the providers and can change.

Telephone Calls and Communication

Phone service, messaging, and tablets at the Fort Bend County Jail are provided by Securus Technologies.

Phone calls

Each inmate gets two free calls after booking. After that, calls are billable — paid by the inmate from an Inmate Telephone Debit Account, or by the person receiving the call. The lowest-cost way to take calls is a Securus AdvanceConnect prepaid account: you add money to your phone number and the cost of each call is deducted from that balance.

eMessaging

Through Securus (SecurusTech.net or the Securus app) you can send two-way messages, photos, and eCards, use “Snap n’ Send,” and prepay a reply. All messages may be read by staff.

Tablets

Inmates have Securus SecureView tablets. Basic content — phone calls, law library, education, religion, some games, job search — is free. A Premium Media subscription ($5.00 per month) adds music, video, movies, books, and more.

All inmate calls are recorded and may be monitored (attorneys request exceptions in writing). Rates and fees are set by the provider and can change — check the current pricing before adding a large balance.

Mailing Instructions

Since January 2, 2024, the Fort Bend County Jail no longer accepts personal mail in paper form. Personal mail is sent to the Securus Digital Mail Center, scanned, and made available to the incarcerated person on tablets and kiosks. Personal mail postmarked after January 2, 2024 and sent to the jail is returned to sender.

Include a return address, or the mail is turned over to the post office. Nothing that cannot be scanned — paper larger than 8½″ × 11″, any non-paper item, packages, certified mail — is returned to sender. Photos and drawings are scanned and delivered the same way. After release, a person can download their mail within 60 days at dmcdownloadcenter.com.

Mark the envelope “Legal Mail.” It is accepted only from officials of the federal, state, and local courts and from the inmate’s attorney; anything else is returned.

Books and publications

Up to three paperback books or magazines per mailing, sent by USPS directly from a publisher or an established bookstore, with the inmate ID number on the shipping label. No hardcover books. Books and magazines become property of the Sheriff’s Office. Cash, blank paper or envelopes, art supplies, original documents, food, medicine, eyeglasses, and internet or computer printouts are not allowed.
