TEXAS — Four former Texas Department of Criminal Justice employees have been arrested following an internal investigation into allegations they stole scrap metal from the agency and sold it, TDCJ confirmed to ABC13 Houston.
Patrick Beacom, James Bodine, Ray Edge and Devin Richards, all former TDCJ employees, were named in the case, which was investigated by the Texas Board of Criminal Justice’s Office of Inspector General.
TDCJ has not disclosed which unit the men worked at, how long the alleged theft is believed to have gone on, or their specific job roles within the agency. A Brazoria County outlet, The Facts, has separately reported on “former TDCJ supervisors” arrested in a scrap metal theft investigation, raising the possibility of a connection to a Brazoria County-area unit, though that link has not been independently confirmed.
Formal charges and the men’s current custody status had not been made public as of publication. This is a developing story; all four are presumed innocent unless and until convicted.

Accountability.
