A Harris County judge resentenced Clarence Curtis Jordan to life in prison with the possibility of parole in June 2026 and recommended that the 70-year-old receive medical parole.
Jordan had spent more than 47 years on Texas death row. Earlier in 2026, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals vacated his death sentence after concluding that the jury had not been adequately instructed to consider evidence about his intellectual disability and neurological conditions when deciding punishment.
A judge’s medical-parole recommendation does not itself release a person. Release decisions remain subject to the applicable review process and action by Texas parole authorities.
