Texas prison investigators reported that an employee attempted to introduce methamphetamine at the Michael Unit in February 2025, according to minutes from the Texas Board of Criminal Justice’s April 2025 meeting.

The Office of Inspector General told the board that the person was identified and admitted introducing drugs into the facility. Investigators reported seizing 212.6 grams of methamphetamine, 1,836 grams of tobacco, 370 grams of marijuana, three cellphones, eight vapes, 12 sheets of paper containing synthetic cannabinoids and four cans of smokeless tobacco during the broader investigation.

The public meeting summary did not identify the employee or state the final disposition of any criminal case. For that reason, this report does not name a person or characterize the allegation as a conviction. Criminal charges and workplace allegations are not proof of guilt unless established in court.
